Ecosure has a core team of dedicated staff, with experience across a wide variety of projects. Our devotion stems from a common appreciation of our natural environment and an unwavering commitment to its conservation. This shared mindset results in a true passion for our work.

Vegetation Surveys, both aerial and ground based

Ecosure uses both helicopter and light aircraft based aerial surveying, working with the pilot to develop an efficient methodology allowing for comprehensive coverage of an area. During aerial surveys, we can enlist the services of trusted sub consultants with specialist GPS capabilities, enabling a very high degree of accuracy. Aerial surveys are generally verified with a degree of ground truthing.

Ground based vegetation surveys may cover a small area, such as a beach dune, or a larger area, such as a conservation park. Renowned Queensland botanist Glenn Leiper works closely with Ecosure and is able to provide a high degree of accuracy with flora identification, with confirmation via the Queensland Herbarium if required.

Vegetation Mapping (GIS)

The production of high quality maps is an integral part of almost all vegetation surveys. Vegetation mapping may be used to assess the attributes of an area, or can be useful for monitoring the success or otherwise of revegetated areas or weed control projects.

Habitat Assessment & Mapping

An assessment of habitat is important in order to understand the habitat requirement of species. It is also used to help understand how a species utilises its habitat. Subsequent mapping forms important visual aids that allow an understanding of a species' distribution throughout its habitat, as well as highlighting itskey habitat areas. Habitat assessment, which usually includes an assessment of both flora and fauna, is also useful in determining to potential presence of species.

Vegetation Management Plans

A vegetation management plan may incorporate a detailed initial vegetation survey and site assessment alongside an examination of the threats and management issues facing an area. Guidelines will be provided detailing the recommended rehabilitation process, maintenance regime, and a means of measuring project success.

Natural Areas Regeneration

Our techniques and approaches are site specific and can be tailored to best suit each client’s needs as well as the local environmental conditions.

It is our commitment to the highest standard of work, from the initial site assessment, through careful planning, sound work practices, on-time completion and regular follow-up that ensures absolute client satisfaction. All Ecosure plant stock is locally sourced and carefully selected to ensure local provenance and to foster genetic integrity.

Ecosure staff are trained in the safe use of herbicides and those conducting weed control hold an ACDC license and have undertaken in-house training workshops with topics including weed identification and management. All field staff possess sound botanical knowledge, with many completing Certificates (I, II, III and Diploma) in Conservation and Land Management.
From targeted weed removal, to dune regeneration, to revegetation of development sites and restoration of stormwater drains we have extensive knowledge relating to:

  • Targeted weed removal
  • Dune regeneration
  • Riparian rehabilitation, including soft engineering options for site stabilisation
  • Large and small scale weed control
  • Large and small scale revegetation plantings
  • Habitat restoration – rainforest, wetland, coastal heath, open forest & woodland
